skyrosiac A magical collection. Each track hits home like nothing else I've heard all year. Tim accomplishes what few (arguably more popular) artists have, trading formula for nuance. Every artistic risk pays off. The holy blend of genres Tim pulls off here may not be for everyone, but I find it the musical equivalent of what Kafka calls great art: it smashes the frozen sea inside us. This album is an immense and bighearted gift to the world. (Impossible to choose a favorite track.) Favorite track: Conquer The World.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) This gem of Christian rock is a wellspring of exciting melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and mind-blowing arrangements. An especially striking example of Tim Ouyoung's way of tackling controversial topics is "Like This", telling the autobiographic struggle of a gay boy growing up with a religion that talks about two genders only. Another noteworthy song is "Grace", which reminds me of old Bruce Hornsby recordings - partly because of the songwriting, partly due to the similarity of Jae Jin's voice. Favorite track: Like This.
Maktesh

Maktesh One listen in and it's clear that Tim is at finest form with the release of "Love and Happiness." While the album bears a more pronounced solo vibe as opposed to the earlier band-driven releases, Ouyang's struggles, doubts, and hopes ring forth as strongly as ever, making the sweetly vulnerable "Love and Happiness" a contender for one of 2020's best albums.

V1 One voice in the silence One step in a revolution Wait for the coming flood Til I rise again Wrestle the universe Until there’s a resolution Face down the persecution With my head held high CHORUS All it takes is a little start Two hands and a beating heart and Oh I could conquer the world One word and I’ll turn the tide And the wind will be on my side and Oh I could conquer the world V2 Stare at the ceiling Is this the destination The end of an ending song Or a brand new day Could I be satisfied With just this one conclusion Maybe embrace confusion Until I find my way BRIDGE No I’m not giving up I will be enough I’ll give it everything I’ve got and I Don’t have this figured out But this is just for now I know enough to know that I’ll be fine

Say Whatever 03:17
You pick me up, you pull me under I can hardly catch my breath I have to find another way to see You could never rescue me We were never meant to be So I will let you go Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to do just do whatever you do Do it with someone new Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to prove just prove it to you I'm finished with you today Call me fire, I'll call you thunder Call me the undertow that will drag you under You'll scream I'll shout What was this fight about? Tell me when you want out And I will let you go Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to do just do whatever you do Do it with someone new Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to prove just prove it to you I'm finished with you today I'm giving you up today You keep slipping up tripping up finding no words to say Back away It's too late Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to do just do whatever you do Do it with someone new Say whatever you need to say Whatever you need to prove just prove it to you I'm finished with you today

Some people say that there's no God That we are fools and they are not If we make our own decisions then nothing is forbidden There's no need to be forgiven, 'cos that's all we got Can anyone hear us calling in the dark? Try to be fearless hoping that we rise up Some race through the fire Some put up a fight We all keep trying to see the light Some preach to the choir Some pray through the night We all keep trying to see the light Some people say that there's a hell God made it there for those who fell If you make the right decisions and take the right positions And keep your secrets hidden then all will be well Can anyone hear us calling in the dark? Try to be fearless hoping that we rise up Some race through the fire Some put up a fight We all keep trying to see the light Some preach to the choir Some pray through the night We all keep trying to see the light And broken hearts break through the dark We'll fall again and then we will get up And still we try to feel alive Hoping that we'll find something better If we look a little harder If we dig a little deeper Some stand in the corner Some give up and cry Some call out to God, "don't let me die" So we cling to each other to make it alright We all keep trying to see the light Some race through the fire Some put up a fight We all keep trying to see the light Some preach to the choir Some pray through the night We all keep trying to see the light

You drank the devil's wine from a golden chalice You called yourself divine when you built a palace You gathered the people and twisted the truth Branded me evil and made them bow to you You wear your robe and I will wear the blood Point out my sin and I will point to love You hold your chalice up, but it's just an empty cup You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You riled up the crowd and you pushed me under But God will hear my cry, can you feel his thunder? Go pass your judgement, try as you might But you will never keep me from the light You wear your robe and I will wear the blood Point out my sin and I will point to love You hold your chalice up, but it's just an empty cup You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love Following your rules, everybody lay low Doesn't mean it's true, just because you say so God is your angle to money and power Your web is still tangled with liars and cowards You think you're always righteous but you might just be insane You wear your robe and I will wear the blood Point out my sin and I will point to love You hold your chalice up, but it's just an empty cup You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You wear your robe and I will wear the blood Point out my sin and I will point to love You hold your chalice up, but it's just an empty cup You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love You put your hope in kings and I'll put my hope in love

V1 Don’t tell me the fables of battles you’ve won Or the cities you rescued when you never saved one Don’t tell me you’re loyal don’t tell me you’re brave When you fled to the mountains and dug me grave CHORUS If there is love and mercy for sinners Is there a place for sinners like me But there’s only room for Sinners you choose, so Please use the words The words you mean V2 Don’t tell me you love and just hate my sin Then offer a kingdom that won’t let me in You say there’s a good God he’s good when you say You called me his child then you sent me away CHORUS Bridge You threw your stones and traded Mercy for empty phrases Statues of golden pages But I won’t bow down You threw me in the fire Telling them I’m the liar I kept on burning brighter till you faded out V3 You told me be honest and there would be grace So I told you my secrets you spat in my face I gave up my life but I never gave up But all that I gave you was never enough

Time Stopped 04:39
Why is love so easy to find for everyone I know? I'm sitting in a lonely cage while other people turn their pages I still sing about the same old thing Who gets to win who gets the prize Who gets to rise up? My soul was ready skin was tough but Every time it's not enough and oh it stings Trapped in the same old thing It's like time stopped and everyone's moving but me And I'm frozen in a clock that is broken With doors that won't open and I'm stuck in a moment Looking through windows at people that I'll never be This song keeps repeating Everything's changing but me There were times I thought I could stay like this forever With friends who said they'd never leave But then they start a family and now they're gone I'm left to carry on Nothing to do when time doesn't move Just push down the sorrow Tomorrow is another day of things that God will take away In this endless ring Tired of the same old thing It's like time stopped and everyone's moving but me And I'm frozen in a clock that is broken With doors that won't open and I'm stuck in a moment Looking through windows at people that I'll never be This song keeps repeating Everything's changing but me It's too late to start from scratch I just have to live with that I hear all these voices say you can't take your choices back Say a prayer, no one said life was fair I found nothing looking for something out there It's like time stopped and everyone's moving but me And I'm frozen in a clock that is broken With doors that won't open and I'm stuck in a moment Looking through windows at people that I'll never be This song keeps repeating Everything's changing but me

Like This 04:44
Some call it blasphemy To disagree with what they say Two choices you will find To fall in line or fall away God made the world, one boy and girl they do insist The bible says a boy can’t love a boy no not like this It’s forbidden so keep it hidden to save my soul I must resist God has spoken, that way is broken No a boy can’t love a boy like this My mom calls me inside she says it’s time to tell the truth I think you have a secret so just speak it I’m begging you My dad is yelling saying tell me it isn’t so And then the room gets quiet I don’t deny it and now they know I’m done with lying, my mom is crying it’s not a problem dad can fix This old religion is still a prison They say never love a boy like this I kept myself locked up Til he walked up and smiled at me The heart I had to hide He broke inside and set it free I couldn’t help it when he held me to his chest A friend was not enough, I fell in love And made a mess He had warm eyes, I made up more lies to pretend that I was his I let my guard down and poured my heart out He said "I love you but not like this" He said "I love you but not like this" Time is fading and I’m still waiting for some love and happiness I made a promise but to be honest I just want someone to love like this I just want someone to love like this I just want someone to love like this

Can a good man be a failure? Can a villain still live honestly? Did I let you down? Am I damaged now? Will you love me if this is all I am? Palaces will crumble Steady feet will stumble Then rise up from the rubble if we can Diamonds can break Even saints make mistakes I keep falling on my face even good men need grace Slay a giant be a hero I'll be worthy when I'm a better man If I fall behind, will you change your mind? Will you love me if this is all I am? Palaces will crumble Treasure turns to trouble And pride is always humbled in the end Diamonds can break Even saints make mistakes I keep falling on my face Even good men need grace Tried my best but I blew it Everything I touch is ruined Promise I'll be good tomorrow Another day just brings more sorrow All I know is you're forgiving Thank you God 'cos I keep sinning Save me once and save me twice and Still I cave into these vices Will I ever be free of the mess that is me? Palaces will crumble Superheroes struggle There's a light outside the tunnel in the end Diamonds can break Even saints make mistakes I keep falling on my face Even good men need grace

Again 03:40
Fortune favors the feats of fools Beasts of labor will always lose But these were just excuses that I made to soothe my pride When the call repeated I retreated back inside I made a mess I only have myself to blame I had wings but couldn't fly And I put myself to shame All my broken dreams are scattered in the rain Is this it, is this the end? Is it too late to try again? Ooo You don't deserve me that much is clear If you loved me you'd still be here But these were just excuses that I made to soothe my pride While I was screaming you were bleeding deep inside You gave your best and all I gave you was the blame You were brave and I was blind to the monster I became I said "I'm sorry" but we'll never be the same It was me in the end Is it too late to love again? Ooo There's another sea to rise above Everything I try is not enough I can't stand it so I'll stand still If God should break me, then that's his will But these were just excuses that I made to soothe my pride 'Cause everything I'd ever need was here inside I made a mess but now it's time to make it right Give me wind and give me wings and I can learn to fly I'll hold my breath until I reach the other side Will it be a happy end? Is it too late to rise again?

Me To You 03:37
Here we are again It doesn’t matter if it’s now or then You look in my direction And stir up my affection And then I’m yours If I could say it now I’d shout it from the roof clear and loud The stars would even hear me Til my lungs were weary So here I go You need to know If I believe in me and you It’s running in my mind I’m running out of time to say I do Oh I tried I Tried to follow every rule Went looking for a sign But every single line led me to you Breathe in, breathe out No time for worry and no time for doubt With everything I am I’ll give you all I can Til there’s no more Give this a chance It’s not just another song and dance I promise you forever For worse or maybe better But I’m not sure You need to know If I believe in me and you It’s running in my mind I’m running out of time to say I do Oh I tried I Tried to follow every rule Went looking for a sign But every single line led me to you Thought I was through with that But I keep looking back Was searching up and down But it was you I found No matter what I do it always leads to you Some things you never find But you were there this time I felt a little rush And then our fingers touched Everything I knew led me to you You need to know If I believe in me and you It’s running in my mind I’m running out of time to say I do Oh I tried I Tried to follow every rule Went looking for a sign But every single line led me to you Went looking for a sign But every single line led me to you Went looking for a sign But every single line led me to you

Once upon a time I was safe and flying high above the land But then a storm rolled in Ripped my wings and threw my wings upon the sand Oh I was bruised and beat And I fell a thousand feet And I cursed the sky because I didn't know That sometimes rain is good And it comes down like it should And it makes the thirsty trees and flowers grow There's a little good in everything when anything goes wrong There was a silver lining all along Once I was a king There was nothing that I needed not a thing But then the soldiers fled When the kingdom fell the crown fell off my head Sometimes things go wrong and the road's a little long And the rivers that we cross are far to wide Sometimes change is good though we never thought we could And there's something better on the other side. There's a little good in everything when anything goes wrong There was a silver lining all along. Can I keep you close? Can you stay here forever next to me? But sometimes people go So we have to say goodbye and set them free Sometimes people die some way before their time And they leave us wondering and asking why Sometimes tears will fall but it's not the end at all Because nothing ever really dies There's a little good in everything when anything goes wrong There was a silver lining There was a silver lining There was a silver lining all along

California 04:11
Say goodbye to old Virginia I will miss you when I leave The hearts and hands that made me who I am I will take them all with me But someplace far away is calling Where the sun sets on the sea I'm on my way to California Do you have a place for me? Can I make a home forever? In a city by the sea Seems like I am always searching For a place I can be found Lovers, friends, no matter in the end As long as they will stick around But maybe this time will be different And I'll find out where I belong Are you there in California? Are you waiting there for me? What if you are also searching In that city by the sea? Little one why are you crying? I will hold you 'til you sleep The signs and stars have brought us where we are I with you and you with me And after all this time I wonder If God heard every word I prayed I found home in California In a city by the bay Hope has turned to hallelujah And I will never be the same
